Strong Start Carries Steady Pace Through the Backroads Jessica Sloan finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:51:51, an 8:32 min/mile average pace. Her race opened fast, clicking off the first five miles between 8:05 and 8:17, before easing through the middle miles as effort settled into the 8:309:15 range. She closed with a strong mile 12 at 8:17, then held 8:32 to the finish. That opening five-mile stretch, covered in just over 40:45, stands as the fastest sustained running of her race a pace she never quite matched again but came close to reclaiming late. The course took her out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, all at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Given the demands of racing at altitude, the balance between her fast start and controlled finish reflects a well-managed effort worth building from.
