Strong Closing Miles Power a Top-10% Finish Michelle Salas completed the half marathon in 1:48:37, finishing 696th overall and 184th among women a result inside the top 10% of the field of 7,223. Salas opened briskly, covering the first mile in 7:48, then settled into a steady 8:20-8:50 pace through the middle miles as cumulative pace eased from 7:48 to 8:29 by mile nine. She then turned it around over the final stretch, covering miles 12 and 13 at a combined 7:29 pace, the fastest sustained running of her race, to close in 1:47:48 elapsed. That surge dropped her overall elapsed pace back down to 8:17 per mile by the finish on the Pearl Street Mall, a strong result given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet.
