Strong Front Half Fuels a Top-1% Half Marathon Finish Grant Bonatz crossed the line in 1:24:35, good for 73rd overall and 63rd among men in a field of 7,223 at the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon. He split the race almost evenly, running the first 6.5 miles in roughly 6:15 pace before settling into the high 6:20s to 6:30s pace over the back half, finishing with a 6:27 min/mile average. His fastest mile came right out of the gate, a 6:11 opening mile that was his quickest of the day. That early rhythm carried him through a strong middle stretch, with miles 1 through 6 covered in 37:34, an average of 6:16 per mile. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Bonatz's steady effort held up well as the course pushed toward the historic finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
