Steady Start Fuels a Strong Finishing Kick Lizzie Liu covered the Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:11:21. She opened briskly, clicking off her first four miles between 9:25 and 9:45 per mile, then eased through the middle miles as her per-mile pace drifted toward 10:37 by mile 8. Miles 9 and 10 held near 10:1710:45, and mile 11 slowed further to 11:18 before she rallied to close in 9:45 and 9:49 for miles 12 and 13. That final mile, run at 9:49, stood out as her fastest full mile after the opening stretch, showing a strong finishing kick down toward the Pearl Street Mall. Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adds context to the effort required to hold that pace late in the race.
