Strong Early Pace Fuels Steady Half Marathon Finish John crossed the line in 1:47:29, an 8:12 min/mile average pace. His cumulative pace dropped from 8:15 through mile 1 down to 7:55 by mile 5, before easing back out to 8:12 by the finish as the second half settled into the 8:208:40 range. Miles 4 and 5 stood out as his strongest stretch, covered at roughly 7:45 min/mile pace, the fastest sustained running of his race. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop for any pace held through the middle miles. His race included a pass through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, and John closed his half marathon with a run down the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
