A Strong Finishing Kick Erases a Mid-Race Stumble Hayden Frey completed the half marathon in 2:15:12, an overall pace of 10:19 per mile. He opened with a steady rhythm, holding between 9:45 and 9:53 per mile through the first five miles before hitting a rough patch in the middle of the course. Miles six and seven slowed sharply, ballooning to 11:41 and 14:05 per mile, before Frey found his footing again. He responded with his strongest running of the race over the final two miles, clocking 9:29 and 9:27 per mile to close out just off his early pace. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, that late surge stands as the highlight of his day, a sign of real resilience after the tough sixth and seventh miles.
