Steady Early Pace Fades Late in Boulder Half Janel Michaelis finished the half marathon in 2:17:40, an overall pace of 10:30 per mile. Michaelis ran her strongest mile-plus stretch over the first six miles, covering that ground in 58:50 for a 9:48 per-mile pace. From there her pace eased steadily, reaching 11:51 for her final mile before crossing the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a course that sits at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Given that early rhythm, working to hold closer to that opening pace through the back half could be a useful focus for her next half marathon.
