His race opened at an 8:42 pace before dropping into the low 7:30s and 7:40s by mile four, the fastest stretch of his day. A steadier middle stretch settled near 7:508:10 per mile through miles seven to ten, before he closed strong, covering miles twelve and thirteen at roughly 7:37 per mile. That finishing kick made for a well-paced back half of the race.
