His race settled into a consistent rhythm through the middle miles, holding between 8:10 and 8:44 per mile from mile 2 through mile 11, before he shifted gears over the final two miles. That closing stretch was the highlight: miles 12 and 13 came in at 7:48 and 7:47, well below his overall average and the fastest sustained running of his race. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, finishing strong like that is a good sign of pacing discipline. The race, like all Boulderthon distances, wrapped up on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a fitting finish line for a well-paced effort with a confident final kick.
