Steady Pacing Powers a Top-50 Finish Lauren Courtway finished in 1:22:05, placing 49th overall and 8th among women in a field of 7,223. Her mile splits stayed remarkably tight through the first ten miles, hovering between 6:00 and 6:40, before she tightened her rhythm further over the closing 5K, running 6:23, 6:10, and 6:14 to bring it home. Her strongest mile came at mile 8, a 6:00 split that was the fastest full mile of her race, sandwiched between two of her slower efforts at miles 7 and 9. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Courtway navigated the half marathon's elevation profile at over 5,000 feet with a well-controlled pace throughout, never straying far from her overall 6:15 min/mile average despite the terrain's demands.
