A Strong Second-Half Surge Fuels a Solid Half Marathon Finish Hayden Johnson finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:49:25, a shade off his 1:48:01 from 2025, though his placement within the field improved slightly (737th overall this year compared to 749th previously). Johnson ran a steady first eight miles, holding between 8:44 and 8:58 pace, before finding another gear over the back half of the course. Miles 10 through 13 were the highlight, with splits of 6:57, 7:17, 7:16, and 7:26 a sustained surge that pulled his overall pace down from 8:51 to 8:18 by the finish. That kick came on a 2026 course redesigned to cut net elevation gain nearly in half, and did so at Boulder's mile-high altitude.
