Strong Finishing Kick Propels Top-10% Half Marathon Result Gabriel Velazquez finished the half marathon in 1:24:01, placing 67th overall and 57th among men in a field of 7,223 runners. His race built steadily, holding a 6:236:33 pace through the opening miles before finding another gear over miles 9 through 12, covering that stretch at roughly 6:13 per mile the fastest three-mile section of his race. That surge carried into the final miles, with his last mile ticking by in 6:12 as he closed strong into downtown Boulder. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, sustaining sub-6:30 pace for the majority of the race, and accelerating late, reflects well-managed effort and pacing discipline worth building on for future starts.
