Strong Middle Miles Anchor a Steady Half Marathon Effort Finishing in 2:15:07, this half marathon was slower than her 1:44:58 the previous year at the same race. The opening mile came in at 10:12, and pace tightened through the middle of the course, bottoming out with a 9:17 split at mile four her fastest mile of the day. That effort held through mile eight before elapsed pace eased back over the closing miles, settling near 11:00 per mile as she crossed the line. This year's half marathon course arrived with its net elevation gain cut nearly in half, down to 203 feet, a notable adjustment for a race run at altitude in Boulder. Given that change, the mid-race surge through miles four through eight stands as the clearest sign of well-managed pacing on the day.
