Steady Early Pace Buoys Strong Finish Despite Late-Race Dip Ashley Ortiz completed the Half Marathon in 2:35:09. Her first six miles were her most consistent stretch, covering that distance in 1:05:53 for a 10:59/mile average. Miles 7 and 8 brought the race's toughest patch, with splits of 15:42 and 14:37, before her pace settled back into the 11:0012:00 range through mile 10. A brief slowdown at mile 11 (13:14) gave way to a strong close, as she ran her final mile in 10:26 the fastest mile of her race to finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Ortiz's race unfolded at over 5,000 feet of elevation, a factor in every Boulderthon finish. Her mile 9 split fell right around the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone, positioned near mile 9.5 of the half marathon route.
