Strong Opening Mile Anchors a Steady Half Marathon Effort Luis Uribe finished the half marathon in 1:49:04, an 8:19 min/mile pace. His race opened with a brisk 7:41 first mile, the fastest stretch of his day, before settling into a steadier rhythm through the middle miles. Splits held mostly in the 8:008:40 range, with a slight dip near miles 78 (8:40, 9:01), before he leveled back out over the closing miles, finishing with an 8:23 mile to the line. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Uribe's pacing showed control after the early surge, with his cumulative pace staying within a narrow bandbetween 8:05 and 8:20 min/milefor the bulk of the race. A slightly more even middle third could help preserve that early speed for the finish next time.
