Strong Finishing Kick Seals a Top Age-Group Finish Michelle Schanz, 57, of Siesta Key, FL, finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:56:41, placing third in the F 55-59 division. Her early miles held steady in the high 8:40s to low 9:00s per mile, dipping only briefly near mile 8 (9:34). From there she rebuilt momentum, covering miles 9 through 13 in 34:37 an 8:39 average pace the fastest sustained stretch of her race, closing with consecutive miles under 8:40. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, adding context to that closing surge. The 2026 half course also came with nearly 50% less net elevation gain than in prior years, a change that lines up well with the steady, even-effort pacing Schanz carried through the back half of her race.
