Fast Start Gives Way to a Gritty Back Half Michael Ly finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:29:29. He opened briskly, covering the first six miles in roughly 57:57 at a 9:39 min/mile pace, well ahead of his overall 11:24 min/mile average. From there the pace eased steadily through the middle miles, dipping into the 11-12 minute range by mile nine, before slowing further through miles ten and eleven. He rallied over the final two miles, trimming his split pace back down into the 12-minute range to close out the race. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop for any effort on this course. Ly's slowest stretch came right around mile 9.5, near where the half marathon's Power-Up Zone sits on course a tough patch to push through before finding another gear for the finish.
