Steady Pace Builds to a Strong Finishing Kick Aiden Bunas completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:52:18, holding a consistent 8:30-9:00 mile pace through the first ten miles before dropping his fastest mile of the race, mile 12, in 7:44. That closing surge continued through mile 13 at 7:31, capping a race that got progressively stronger as it went on. The final three miles, covering roughly mile 10 through the finish, were his best stretch of the day, each coming in under 8:30 and pulling his cumulative pace down from 8:53 to 8:34 min/mile. That kind of negative-split finish, especially at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet, points to well-managed effort. Aiden might consider working on evening out the middle miles next time, so that closing speed comes from surplus energy rather than necessity.
