Steady Pace, Strong Finish in Boulder Jen Birkhofer completed the Half Marathon in 1:50:48 (8:27/mile), finishing 30th in her 35-39 age division. Her race opened briskly with an 8:11 opening mile, dipped slightly through the middle miles with splits between 8:20 and 8:56, then tightened again over the closing miles. Her final mile was her fastest of the race at 8:01, capping the effort with strong late-race control after a slightly slower patch near miles 7-9. That late push through miles 9 and 10 came right around the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, and Birkhofer used the stretch to rebuild rhythm before closing hard. Like all half marathon finishers, she covered ground out past the Boulder Reservoir and through Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, a fitting stage for her strongest closing mile of the day.
