Strong Start Fades Late as Pace Cools Over Final Miles Connor Steggerda covered the half marathon in 1:47:38, settling into an 8:12 min/mile overall pace. His race showed a clear shape: a swift opening third, a steady middle stretch, and a gradual easing over the closing miles as splits crept from the mid-7:00s toward the 9:00 range by mile 12. The first six miles stood out as his fastest sustained stretch, averaging 7:46 per mile through downtown Boulders early miles - notably quick given Boulders 5,000-plus-foot elevation. That effort included the fields approach near the lululemon Power-Up Zone around mile 9.5, after which his pace eased through miles 10 and 11, a natural point to manage effort before the final push into the Pearl Street Mall finish.
