Steady Pace Through the Field, Then a Late Surge to the Finish Ava Ortiz completed the half marathon in 2:27:36, holding a consistent 11:0012:00 per mile rhythm through the first ten miles before a slower 13:29 split at mile 11. She answered immediately, covering the final two miles in 19:12 a 9:36 per mile pace, the fastest sustained stretch of her race to close things out strong. That closing surge carried her into downtown Boulder, where the half marathon finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall. The mid-race dip at mile 11 stands out as the one spot to watch; shoring up that stretch could smooth out an otherwise well-paced effort built on a strong finishing kick.
