Fast Start Sets the Tone Before a Late Fade Emily Hitt finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:56:44, averaging 8:54 per mile. She opened with her fastest mile of the day at 7:47, and held a tight, efficient rhythm through the first six miles, reaching that point in 49:03 an 8:10 average pace. From there, the pace eased steadily, dipping into the 9:00s and eventually to a 10:51 split at mile 11 before a modest rally over the final two miles to the finish. Every distance at Boulderthon finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting close to a race run at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Hitt's early miles showed she can hold sub-8:10 pace comfortably at altitude; building more of that steadiness into the back half could bring her closer to that opening rhythm next time.
