His splits stayed remarkably even, hovering between 7:15 and 7:22 per mile through the first ten miles, a sign of well-managed effort across the distance. His strongest stretch came late, clocking a 7:09 mile at mile 12 his fastest of the race after a brief dip to 7:41 the mile prior. That late surge, closing in 7:23 to the line, reflects solid control given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet. With such consistent pacing already in place, a touch more aggression in the middle miles could be worth exploring next time.
