Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Emory Dombkowski #20875 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Negative-Split Half Marathon Punctuated by a Sub-6 Mile Emory Dombkowski finished the half marathon in 1:23:15, an average pace of 6:21 per mile, placing 59th overall and 50th among men in a field of 7,223. Dombkowski's race built steadily: the first eight miles held between 6:26 and 6:34, then he shifted gears, dropping to 6:13, 6:18, and 6:12 through miles 911. His strongest stretch came late, covering mile 12 in 5:54, the fastest mile of his race, before closing in 6:05. That late surge pulled his overall pace down from 6:30 at the halfway point to 6:21 at the finish. The race concluded on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting stage for a runner who saved his best mile for the closing miles rather than the opening ones.
