His race built steadily: early miles hovered near 8:208:30, but from mile 9 onward he shifted into a lower gear, dropping every remaining split under 8:00 and closing with a 7:41 final mile. His strongest stretch came over miles 10 through 13, covered at roughly 7:46 per mile his fastest sustained running of the day. That surge carried him through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, right as his pace began to sharpen.
