Strong Closing Miles Power a Top-Tier Half Marathon Finish Chris finished in 1:39:57, placing 354th overall and 285th among men in a field of 7,223. After opening near 7:54 pace through the first mile, he settled into a steady 7:47-7:50 rhythm across the middle miles, keeping his cumulative pace remarkably consistent from mile 3 through mile 9. The final stretch was the highlight: miles 10 through 13 each came in faster than his overall average, including a 6:56 split at mile 12, pulling his elapsed pace down to 7:38 min/mile by the finish. That late surge reflects strong pacing discipline and a well-managed effort. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, at over 5,000 feet of elevation, this was a well-executed race with a clear negative-split pattern worth building on.
