Blistering Pace Nets Top-Five Half Marathon Finish Jan Thewes crossed the line in 1:10:01, placing 5th overall and 5th among men out of the field of 7,223 in the Half Marathon. He opened with the race's quickest full mile at 4:52, then settled into a steady rhythm through the middle miles, holding paces between 5:19 and 5:46 as the elapsed pace gradually eased from 5:11 to 5:24 by mile 11. Thewes surged over the final two miles, running mile 12 in 4:55 his second-fastest mile of the day and closing with a 5:05 split to seal a third-place age-group finish. His run came on the 2026 course, redesigned to cut net elevation gain nearly in half, and finished on the historic Pearl Street Mall at over 5,000 feet of altitude.
