Steady Pacing Carries Him Through Boulder's Half David Long finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:45:05, averaging 8:01 per mile across the 13.1-mile course that finishes on the Pearl Street Mall. His race showed strong early control: the first six miles clicked off between 7:40 and 8:00 per mile, with his fastest mile of the day coming right out of the gate at 7:40. A brief dip through miles 7 and 8 (8:11, 8:25) interrupted that rhythm before he settled back into the 7:59-8:22 range for the closing miles, finishing with consistent effort despite Boulder's mile-high elevation. Given how evenly he held pace over the first 10K, he may find that pushing a touch harder mid-race, rather than easing off around miles 7-8, could smooth out the overall curve next time.
