Negative-Split Finish Powers a Steady Half Kayo Stewart crossed the line in 1:52:00, closing the back half of her half marathon faster than the front. After settling in around 8:40-8:50 per mile through the middle miles, she found her best form late, covering miles 9 through 13 at roughly 8:15 per mile. Her final two miles, at 7:53 and 7:56, marked the fastest sustained running of her race a clean, controlled surge to the line rather than a fade. Stewart's finish came on a half marathon course that in 2026 saw its net elevation gain cut nearly in half, from 384 to 203 feet, with the final stretch carrying her onto the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder a finish run at over 5,000 feet of altitude.
