Steady Pace Yields a Top-Seven-Percent Half Marathon Finish Dreamy Genzel Ii crossed the line in 1:44:13, good for 503rd overall and 391st among men in the field of 7,223. His mile splits stayed remarkably tight, holding between 7:54 and 8:07 for the first ten miles before dropping into the high 7:30s and low 7:40s over the closing stretch, finishing strong at 8:06 for the final mile. His fastest mile came at mile 7, clocked in 7:34, part of a strong middle-to-late push that carried through mile 12 in 7:41. That surge helped him close faster than he started, a pattern worth noting for future pacing strategy. Finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, this was a well-controlled, consistent effort from start to finish.
