Steady Early Pace Sets Up a Hard-Fought Final 10K Felipe Magallanes crossed the marathon finish in 4:08:01, an overall pace of 9:27 per mile. He built the race on a controlled, even effort through the first 20 miles, holding between 9:00 and 9:20 per mile, before the closing 10K eased into the 10:1511:45 range as the effort caught up with him over the final miles. His steadiest stretch came from mile 14 through mile 20, where he locked into a tight 8:489:08 per mile band, the most consistent running of his day. That effort carried him past the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, in the stretch of Boulder County backroads where his pace eased most, all at an elevation above 5,000 feet before the finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
