Steady Pacing Delivers a Near-Identical 10K Time Eric Giersch covered the 10K in 52:48, essentially matching his 52:54 finish at the same event last year and holding an identical 8:31 min/mile pace across both efforts. His mile splits stayed tightly bunched through the first five miles, ranging from 7:52 to 8:38, with the fifth mile his fastest full-mile stretch at 7:52 min/mile. That consistency held up well at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet before the pace eased in the closing mile. Overall, this was a well-executed repeat performance, and there may be room to experiment with sustaining that mile-five effort a bit longer in future races.
