Fast Start Fuels Steady 10K Effort Before Late Fade Kobe Brewster opened his 10K at Boulderthon with two sharp miles 8:58 and 8:56 the fastest miles of his race. He held that rhythm into the middle, dipping only slightly through miles 3 and 4 before rebounding to a 9:15 fifth mile. The final mile slowed to 10:54, the race's toughest stretch, before he crossed in 58:59. Running at altitude in a city sitting above 5,000 feet, Brewster's early pace stood out as the clear strength of his race. With that opening speed banked, dialing back the effort slightly through the third and fourth miles could help preserve more of it for the closing mile next time out.
