Strong Start Fuels a Steady 10K Effort James Fendt completed the 10K in 54:31, opening with his fastest mile of the day at 7:55. That early pace set the tone for a race that gradually eased over the remaining miles, with per-mile splits climbing steadily from the 8:00s into the 10:08 final mile as fatigue built across the course. The opening mile stood out as the clear highlight, run nearly a minute faster than his closing mile pace. Boulders elevation, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any effort at this distance, and Fendts ability to bank time early proved useful as the pace settled into a more moderate rhythm through the back half of the race.
