Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Jimena Ugaz #30756 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Steady Start Fades Late in Return to the 10K Jimena Ugaz finished this year's 10K in 1:00:58, just under two minutes off her 59:05 from the previous year's race. Her opening mile was her fastest of the day at 9:03, and she held a strong rhythm through the first two miles, covering that stretch at roughly a 9:00 pace. From there, her mile splits gradually lengthened, with the closing mile slowing to 11:14 as cumulative pace crept from 9:00 to 9:48 by the finish. The result reflects a race run at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet. Ugaz's early miles stand out as the strongest stretch of her race, and building more evenly from that same starting rhythm could help her close the gap on last year's time. She finished on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
