Steady Pace Through Five Miles Before a Late Slowdown Jacob Carrillo finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:00:41. He ran the first four miles in a tight band between 9:35 and 9:39 per mile, then dropped to 9:04 for mile five his fastest mile of the race before easing back over the final stretch to the Pearl Street Mall finish. That fourth-to-fifth-mile surge stands out as the strongest running of the day, a notable pickup after four miles of even pacing. Given how consistent his effort was through the middle miles, there may be room to carry that mile-five strength further into the closing stretch next time. The race, run in Boulder at over 5,000 feet of elevation, capped a well-managed effort overall.
