Her mile splits stayed tight through the first four miles, hovering between 9:36 and 9:40, before she found her strongest stretch in mile five, clicking off a 9:12 pace. That surge marked the fastest mile of her race before the pace settled back in over the closing mile to the Pearl Street Mall finish. With the course winding through Boulder's downtown at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Denisenko's even effort reflects well-paced management from start to finish.
