Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: German Buitrago #31076 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Fast Start Fades Into a Patient Finish German Buitrago covered the 10K in 58:33, an average pace of 9:26 per mile. He opened aggressively, reaching the 3-mile mark in 18:49 (about 6:16 per mile), then eased significantly over the second half, closing in 56:57 through mile 6 as his pace settled into the 13-14 minute range per mile late in the race. The opening 3 miles stood as the standout stretch of the day, run at a sub-6:20 pace before the effort shifted. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that early pace made for a demanding foundation to the race, and the steadier final miles reflect a sensible adjustment once the pace naturally settled.
