Strong Start Carries Steady 10K Effort Matt Niegocki finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:02:29, an overall pace of 10:04 per mile. Niegocki opened with his fastest mile of the race, covering the first in 9:36 and the second even quicker at 9:14. From there, his mile splits settled into a steady 10:00-10:11 range through mile five, before easing slightly over the final stretch. That opening two miles stood out as the strongest sustained stretch of his race, built on a pace he wasn't able to fully recapture later on. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, holding that early rhythm as long as he did reflects well on his pacing instincts. A touch more evenness across the middle miles could help him close even stronger next time.
