Steady Miles Give Way to a Late Fade Running the 10K at 2026 Boulderthon, Clive Bernal covered the 6.2-mile course in 1:11:02, an overall pace of 11:27 per mile. Through the first four miles, Bernal held a tight, consistent rhythm, splits of 9:15, 9:10, 9:34 and 10:01, keeping his cumulative pace between 9:12 and 9:30 per mile. That control carried into mile five, still sitting at 9:30 overall. The closing mile, however, slowed sharply to 21:06, the race's slowest stretch by a wide margin, pulling his final average well off the early pace. That opening consistency came at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, a solid platform worth building from for pacing the back half more evenly next time.
