Read opened fast, clicking off her first two miles in 8:02 and 8:01, the strongest stretch of her race. From there, her pace settled into the high 8s and low 9s through the middle miles before easing slightly over the closing miles. The early pace at altitude Boulder sits above 5,000 feet set a solid foundation for the race, and Read's ability to hold close to that opening rhythm through mile five speaks well to her pacing sense on the day.
