Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Evelyn Gomez #32651 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Strong Start Fades Into a Steady Finish Evelyn Gomez completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:24:01. Her race began briskly, covering the first two miles in 11:09 and 11:16, the fastest miles of her day, before pace settled between 13:00 and 16:21 over the remaining four miles. Cumulative pace crept from 11:09 at mile one to 13:33 by the finish, reflecting that early tempo giving way to a more moderate cruising speed through the back half. Like every distance at this year's event, Gomez's 10K ended on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a finish that carries extra weight given the city's elevation above 5,000 feet. Her opening miles suggest a runner capable of holding a stronger pace longer; working on evening out effort across the full 6.2 miles could bring her overall time down in a future race.
