Reed's race stayed tightly bunched through the first four miles, holding between 8:28 and 8:57 pace, before dropping her fastest mile of the day, an 8:00 fifth mile, to push her cumulative pace back down to 8:29. She eased slightly over the final mile before finishing strong on the Pearl Street Mall. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Reed's ability to negative-split into that fifth mile stands out as the highlight of her race.
