Strong Early Pace Fuels a Top 10% Finish Matt Cezat crossed the 10K line in 48:04, placing 119th overall out of the field of 3,071 and 85th among men. He built an early cushion through the first two miles at 7:27 and 7:24, held mid-race pace in the 7:30s, and turned in his fastest mile of the day at mile 5 in 7:22 before easing to a 9:00 final mile. That opening pair of miles set the tone for the race, giving Cezat room to absorb a slower fourth mile without losing his overall position. Racing at over 5,000 feet of Boulder elevation, his ability to hold sub-7:35 pace through five of six miles reflects strong pacing discipline for the distance.
