Consistent Pacing Carries Steady 10K Finish Mario Melgoza Arriaga completed the 10K in 59:37, an average pace of 9:36 per mile, finishing 646th overall out of 3,071 in the field and 369th among men. His race held a steady rhythm through the opening miles, clocking 9:16 and 9:10 in the first two, before easing slightly to 9:28 in the third. The fourth mile slowed to 10:31, the races toughest stretch, before he rebounded to 9:32 in mile five. That opening two-mile stretch, sub-9:15 pace, stood out as his strongest running of the day. Given Boulders elevation above 5,000 feet, maintaining that early rhythm before the dip in mile four reflects a solid overall effort. Working on sustaining that early pace deeper into the race could be a good focus for next time.
