Steady Start Carries Through a Shifting 10K Ayla Lockwood finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:34:05. She opened with back-to-back miles at 12:35 pace, the fastest full-mile stretch of her race, before the middle miles slowed the overall pace to the mid-teens by the finish. Running in Boulder's thin air above 5,000 feet adds its own demand to any pace shift late in a race, and Lockwood's early miles showed she could hold a strong, consistent rhythm before the course's later stretches pulled her cumulative pace back. Building on that early speed with steadier footing through the middle miles could help smooth out the overall pace next time out.
