That's slower than his 59:54 performance at the same event last year, when he finished 624th overall. Hargrove opened fast, covering the first two miles in 8:31 and 8:36 his strongest stretch of the race before the pace steadily slipped, with his final mile coming in at 12:55. The result was a race that started near the front of the pack but gradually settled into the mid-field by the finish. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds context to the effort, and revisiting that early rhythm through the back half could be a useful focus for next time.
