Steady Pace Through Five Miles Before a Late Fade Casey Phifer finished the 10K in 1:02:17, an overall pace of 10:02 per mile. She settled into a consistent rhythm early, holding between 9:31 and 9:56 per mile through the first five miles before easing back over the final stretch. Her strongest mile came early, a 9:28 split for mile two, the fastest full mile of her race. That effort came at Boulder's elevation of more than 5,000 feet, a notable backdrop for maintaining sub-10:00 pace through the middle miles. Building on that opening consistency could help her carry pace deeper into future 10Ks.
