The final two miles eased to 11:37 and 11:59, a natural settling after that quicker push. The 10K field set off at 7:45 AM in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation. Hicks's even early pacing through the first three miles gave her a solid foundation before that fourth-mile surge, and there's room to explore carrying that same energy into the closing miles next time out.
