Strong Start Fades Into a Steady Grind to the Mall Palmer Johnson covered the 10K in 1:04:43. Her race went out fast and cooled steadily from there: a brisk opening mile in 9:10 gave way to a gradual, mile-by-mile slowdown, closing with a 12:07 final mile as fatigue set in. That opening mile stands as her strongest stretch of the day, nearly three minutes quicker than her closing one. The 2026 Boulderthon's 10K began at 8:10 AM, with Johnson finishing her run on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation. Johnson has room to build a more even effort across the back half of this distance in future races, but the steady pacing decline still carried her to a solid finish worth building on.
